Dimacs invites you to its Fall Mixer series. All DIMACS members, visitors, postdocs, and students are invited to join us Thursday, September 25 at AT&T Labs hosted by David Johnson, and Tuesday, October 28 at DIMACS hosted by the DIMACS staff. The purpose of this mixer program is to introduce the new postdocs, graduate students and DIMACS visitors to each other and to DIMACS visitors and postdocs from the different DIMACS institutions. The September program will begin at 10:30am and will feature talks by Mona Singh of the Princeton Computer Science Department as well as one by Martin J. Strauss of AT&T Shannon Labs. The titles of their respective talks are "Protein Structure Prediction and the Side-chain Positioning Problem: Contrasts in Theory and Practice", and "Maintaining time-decaying stream aggregates". Talks will also be given by Graham Cormode who is a DIMACS postdoc, and Alexander Soifer who is visiting DIMACS and Princeton, Boaz Barak a postdoc from IAS, and a Princeton grad student Anthony Ian Wirth. The AT&T mixer will be held in Room B104 of Building 103, and will start at 10:30am. Lunch will be served at noon. In order to plan for the luncheon, we would appreciate your letting us know in advance of your intention to come for lunch. Please RSVP to Maria Mercado (mercado@dimacs.rutgers.edu) by September 23. Those who do not RSVP are still welcome, but we would appreciate your giving us your intentions in advance.
